Ok, since I am inspired & pumped to get this project started, the first thing I wanna do is planning on my schedule. The breakdown looks simple & workable but there is a chance I might not commit to the schedule perfectly. I am working it in a tight budget (I am putting aside maximum RM250 per month) + limited time + short attention span, I may take longer time than usual to get the work done.
First & Second Month (mid Oct - end November)
Clean & sort
- hanging closet
- the folded clothes in the closet
- the 3 drawers & dressing table (houses a lot of stuffs & CDs)
- Go back kampung coz Raya Haji
Clean & sort
- the big bookcase
- the smaller bookcases (2)
Clean & throw/relocate the "rainbow drawers"
Clean the "dead" zone
Sketch & Find inspirations
Measure the room for the actual workable size
Plan the location of the things
3rd Month (Dec)
- Arrange the figurine's place & put away their boxes onto the upper closet
- Wash the soft toys
- Decide the color scheme
-17 & 18 Dec - ComicFiesta!
- Buy Paint
- Paint the room
4th Month (January)
- Buy wood paint
- Paint the wooden bookcase (2)
- Search for small container/wicker baskets (for laundry)+ place to put the stationary at one place.
- Holiday to US! (3 weeks)
5th Month (February)
- search for pillow
6th Month (March)
- search for shelves
7th, 8th, 9th month (April, May, June)
- save up for computer desk
10th month
- curtains?
- Bed Headboard
11th month
12th month
For the first 2 months or less, I am focusing on trying to sort out EVERYTHING in the room. There are some stuffs I need to get rid/relocate (my comics obviously belongs to the game/living area), clothes to donate, papers to shred, decorations to sort etc etc. There's also the issue of the "dead zone", which I rarely touch in the room. It is the corner of the 2nd computer area, because the table is too small so it left a space abt 30cm wide. I might deal with the place last.
What am I gonna do first is to clean up the closet that have most of my clothes & collection of soft toys. Yes, I still keep my soft toys in my closet, they need to be dusted & washed (especially my Fav One eyed Bear, Rabbit & Mona(doll)). After the clothes department done, I'll move onto the books, papers & stationary, since I 'm once an art student and now a graphic designer, there's a lot of left over materials from my final projects. I'll think of something to reuse them. Then, I'll move the figurines & store their boxes on the top closet
Lastly, the dead zone

Aha, I might be embarrass myself to show this but if people messier than my room can show it on TV, why shouldn't I?

Why I get this crazy idea out from blue??
It all started with the new greenish yellow flowery carpets my mom brought in the living room. We've been living in the house for almost 7 years, still it is bare because we spent a fortune to the house. As years come by, my parents (especially my mom) will replace the furniture bit by bit. It is an ongoing process, the next big thing on their list is to decorate the huge bare wall to match the theme of the furniture.
I dislike to go out much because I kinda a homey person (& my obsession with internet doesn't help either =P) I spent a lot of my time in my room, sketching some designs or surfing the net. Then I'll be looking at my bare (& messy) room & thought "Wow, what a messy junkyard". Dust, hair (I shed like a cat), books, anime figurines, paper, clothes are all over the room. I look at myself afterwards, what I feel inside is the same thing as I feel about my room. "My life is also a mess". I am 28, single, working girl, no boyfriend, with a room that has a lot of stuff. A few days ago I've made a decision for a mission, to change my room a little at a time & at the same time, changed myself.
The goal? To redecorate the room in a span of a year or less on a tight budget. Nothing too big, just one baby step at a time with my own money I could spend. No big furniture (bed or wardrobe or bookcase just shelves & one computer table), or fancy stuff (maybe a few inexpensive trinkets to liven it up more), just to organize & make the room more cozy & suits my personality, taste & profession. Since I am working on weekdays & alternate Saturdays + playing Magic cards (new hobby) on Saturday evening (at the same time I'll go window shopping as well <3), Sunday is the best day to go out hunting for the stuffs/ working in my room unless I have a deadline/events to look forward to.
My taste is like heaven & earth compared to my mom, she likes semi antique look, with the flowers & earthy tones but in this project (my room) I'll make it to look like the modern look (with sleek stylish shelves & clean look).
And I decided to blog about the process. & it wasn't for hype or anything, keeping this blog is to motivate me & remind me how far am I from my goal. & to get my lazy ass back to work on it. + it would be fun recording the experience right?

P/S: The only problem I will be facing afterwords however, is to keep clean it :D
